2) What we process and why

a) Visiting our website (server logs)

When you access ai-free.io, our hosting infrastructure automatically processes technical data that your browser sends, such as IP address, date/time, URL, referrer, and user agent.

Purpose / legal basis: Operating a secure, reliable website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – legitimate interests).

b) Loading/embedding our AI-Free label (hotlinking)

Our labels can be embedded as linked images. When a browser loads a label image from ai-free.io, it connects to our servers and transmits technical data (e.g., IP address and HTTP headers) to deliver that image. This happens both on our site and when third-party sites embed the label that links back to ai-free.io. We do not use this for tracking; we process only what is necessary to deliver the image. Purpose / legal basis: Providing the label asset and ensuring service integrity (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where the asset is requested; Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

c) Communications

If you email us, we process the content of your message and your contact details to respond.

Purpose / legal basis: Handling enquiries (Art. 6(1)(b) and/or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

d) Voluntary support payments via Stripe

If you choose to support the project financially, we use Stripe as our payment service provider. Stripe processes data needed to complete the transaction (e.g., name, email, billing details, payment method and transaction data). For details, please see Stripe’s Privacy Policy and Privacy Center.

International transfers may occur. Stripe states that it complies with the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework; see Stripe’s DPF Policy for more information.

Purpose / legal basis: Processing your support payment (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), fraud prevention and payment security (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Note: We deliberately use the wording “support” (not “donation”). Support payments are voluntary contributions and not tax-deductible charitable donations.

3) Cookies, analytics and profiling

We currently do not use non-essential cookies, analytics tools, or profiling on ai-free.io. If this changes, we will update this Policy and (where required) request consent. 

4) Recipients and processing on our behalf

• Hosting / infrastructure providers that operate our servers (server logs, image delivery).
• Stripe for processing support payments (see above).

We only share data with recipients to the extent necessary and subject to data processing agreements where required. 

5) Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described (e.g., short-term server logs for security, statutory retention for payment records) and then delete or anonymize it. 

6) Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access (Art. 15), rectify (Art. 16), erase (Art. 17), restrict (Art. 18), object (Art. 21), and data portability (Art. 20).

To exercise your rights, contact info@prinzengold.de (or contact@ai-free.io). If your request concerns payment data processed by Stripe, you may also contact Stripe directly via its Privacy Center. 

7) International transfers

Where data is transferred outside the EEA (e.g., by Stripe), appropriate safeguards apply (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and/or participation in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework as applicable by the processor). See Stripe’s documentation for details. 

8) Security

We use technical and organizational measures (e.g., TLS) to protect your data. No system is 100% secure, but we regularly review and improve our safeguards. 

9) Third-party sites

Our site may contain links to external websites (e.g., when users embed our label and link back to us). We are not responsible for third-party privacy practices. 

10) Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect legal or technical changes. The effective date appears at the top.
